Jonquil Brooks trained as a Fashion and Textiles designer at Hornsey College of Art, London, gaining a BA Hons. She worked as a Head Designer in London, the USA, Canada, Israel and Turkey as well as for companies in the South West.
Following many years as a professional fashion designer for household names such as Marks and Spencer, Selfridges and Debenhams, she worked first as a Visiting Tutor at London College of Fashion where she completed her teacher training.
As her career in education progressed Jonquil worked as a full time lecturer and then as an educational manager in colleges across the South of England. Consequently she has taught fashion design, pattern cutting and garment making from GCSE up to degree level.
Upon her retirement from Further Education management roles she has once again returned to her first passion of fashion and sewing. Jonquil is now running day and evening courses in Dressmaking at all levels of ability, Design and Pattern Cutting sessions and one day workshops. These mainly take place in her sewing studio in Congresbury, though classes are run in Yatton and in Weston-super-Mare subject to demand.
